Your writing is inspiring in so many ways, but also makes me laugh- "the eggs from Egypt" indeed.

May I recommend a Mountain First dog ( surely they can thrive in more places than the South?).

Those mole condos will be hanging out vacancy signs within the year.

“The Spirits breath meets me in front of the kitchen sink”. Love that. And all the different ways to emphasize the verse with them all meaning something a little different. A beautiful way to end the day!

Which Niall Williams novel do you recommend commencing on?

Cathy's avatar

“This is Happiness” has proved a delightful introduction. CW: if plot-forward books are your favorite, Niall will take some getting used to. His stories are character-driven and atmospheric; richly told, but quiet.

The radish sandwich sounds delightful—I’m with you on Hellmans, but I also approve Duke’s.

Dukes is permissible. Miracle Whip, nevah! (Said in the voice of Emma’s Aunt Eugenia)

Oh also, (am I allowed THREE comments?) thanks for making me look up the word petrichor- a great addition to my vocabulary! And I want one of Ruby's wildflower boquets please. I do believe I'll have plenty of greenbeans and carrots to share with you in exchange.😘

p.s

Sorry about the moles. Want to exchange for rats? We saw some scurrying around in our back brush pile, probably working on their form of condominiums😆

delphiniums, peonies, gravel roads, and foreboding joy… you’re speaking my language🫶🏼

Can confirm that the delphinium watercolour was truly beautiful!

And! The joy of the Lord is my strength. That verse has been on my mind of late as well. Your updates are always inspiring🩵

Obviously I shouldn't try writing comments within an hour of getting out of bed. *your encouragement, not *you're encouragement. Altho, you ARE encouragement.

Thanks Cathy for this! It's just what I needed this morning! I'm going to focus on JOY and STRENGTH!

I've been thirsty for your writings. And how was I to know that you're encouragement from Nehemiah was 100% exactly what I needed?!! How those dangling fruits of foreboding joy was both obstructing my vision and making my stomach sour (literally, I barfed last night largely due to stress- sorry t.m.i) Summer is beautiful. Children (child) light it up, making it dance and dazzle and cause me to laugh aloud. But the real vibrancy of it is its Creator. The joy of the Lord IS my strength. Amen

Thank you so much!! I needed this reminder! The Joy of the Lord is my Strength as I tackle unpacking and cleaning up Everything from a camping trip in the mountains with 4 children. It was worth it!! Even though today doesn't qualify as fun. :)

I love the thought of mole condominiums. Moles in suits with laptops. Of course not the aspect of you having to deal with their annoying trenches though. Maybe instead of being Gen Z moles, they’re WWII moles and they are trying to out trench the others? Moles in Army Fatigues?

Also “eggs from Egypt” made me smile this morning.😊

Now I must paint a mole with his laptop. He would need to wear spectacles, naturally. Thanks for the inspo!
